Abstract, as submitted

Whether it's a build config, load balancer, app fixture, or countless Kubernetes manifests, YAML has become the cloud assembly language.
However, YAML's surprising features are a continuous source of pain for practitioners, and its limitations doom repos of YAML to mirror the complexity of the very systems they describe.
However, its readability and versatility continue increasing its adoption.
We need a YAML native programming language.
ytt is that tool.
ytt's values, loops, functions, overlays, and libraries can reshape your YAML whenever you feel the need to repeat yourself or make decisions about cloud systems.
