Abstract, as submitted

Organizations build and run developer platforms to developers more productive by standardizing the infrastructure and services developer use to build and run their apps. Developers love building their own stacks, but that causes problems, especially in larger organizations. Building this platform and getting developers to actually use it are the most frequent challenges, but there are more best practices and worst practices as well. This talk collects together these lessons learned from many different organizations over the past five years. Some topics are: onboarding developers, marketing and branding, security, and product managing the platform.
